Colorado Springs Fire Department issues burn ban as dangerous fire conditions increase

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) has issued a burn ban as of 12 p.m. on Monday, June 29.

The ban comes as increased wildfire risk and high temperatures come to the area. Several fires have broken out in the state over the past 24 hours, increasing the demand for firefighters statewide, according to CSFD.

Outdoor cooking and fires using materials such as wood and charcoal are banned during the period, according to CSFD. Recreational fires such as campfires not in a portable or fixed fireplace are also included in the ban. Outdoor smoking in city parks or open spaces is banned during this period.

CSFD also says permits for bonfires and model rockets will not be issued while the burn ban is in effect, and any outdoor hot work like welding will require a permit from CSFD.
