Police identify victim of fatal shooting in Briargate area
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Police say that a person who they initially reported as having suffered serious injuries in a shooting earlier this month has since died of his injuries.
Police identified the victim as 19-year-old Alijah Vialpando of Colorado Springs, according to a release Monday.
Police had responded to a reported shooting Nov. 5 in the 2600 block of Briargate Boulevard. Officers then found Vialpanda in a crashed vehicle in a parking lot in the 2700 block of Briargate.
The Colorado Springs Police Department says this is the city's 23rd homicide investigation this year, compared with 31 homicides at this time last year.
This remains an ongoing investigation.

Police are investigating a reported shooting at Briargate Blvd. and N. Union Blvd. around 7 p.m. Tuesday evening.
One person was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
The victim was shot in a car, and then drove northbound on Briargate towards Union. The driver's vehicle jumped the median and crashed in front of the Sunrise Methodist Church.
Police say they are investigating this as a serious assault. There are no suspects at this time.
