Drivers experienced slick and snow-packed roads Monday morning.

On Sunday evening the City of Fountain and the City of Colorado Springs were placed on Accident Alert Status. Around 8:45 a.m., CDOT closed the northbound lanes of I-25 between CO 105 (Monument) to Greenland as crews worked to clear ice and snow from the roadway. At 9:15 a.m. the roadway reopened.

There was a multiple-vehicle crash on I-25 NB north of Castle Pines at Lincoln Ave. The crash happened just after 8:45 a.m.

The Colorado Department of Transportation specifically advised drivers to take it slow on Hwy 24 between Woodland Park and Colorado Springs due to icy conditions.

CDOT said motorists should avoid impacted areas Monday morning especially the I-70 Mountain Corridor and I-25 between Monument and Castle Rock. The speed limit will be lowered to 45 mph in the gap to slow traffic down during the storm.
