ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Sweden’s new prime minister has vowed to fulfill his country’s obligations toward countering the threat of terrorism to Turkey. Ulf Kristersson made the pledge Tuesday after a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara, where he sought Turkish approval for his country’s NATO membership bid.  Sweden and Finland abandoned their longstanding policies of military nonalignment this year and applied for NATO membership after Russian forces invaded Ukraine in February. Turkey has held off endorsing their requests, which require unanimous approval from NATO members. Erdogan said Turkey was expecting “concrete steps” from Sweden.
