Canadian man in custody after allegedly killing Mexican cop

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexican prosecutors say a Canadian man is in custody after allegedly shooting and killing a police officer responding to a call in the resort town of Tulum. They say police in Tulum responded to a report of a man firing at a car Tuesday. When they arrived in the community of Francisco Hu May, a man fired at them, striking one officer who died later. The prosecutor’s office said Tuesday that the shooter then entered his home, set fire to it and ran back out, where he was shot in the leg by police. He was identified only as “Patrick C.”
