RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Former Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax says he recently met with the FBI to discuss his concerns about the two 2019 sexual assault allegations against him. Fairfax has consistently denied the allegations and has long asserted they were part of a politically motivated smear campaign. He says he met for several hours with the FBI in June. Three other people confirmed to The Associated Press that they had been interviewed about the allegations. An FBI spokeswoman declined comment. Attorneys for Fairfax’s accusers have defended their clients and criticized the apparent FBI inquiry. Fairfax has not been charged with a crime but the 2019 allegations blunted his political career.
