PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Pueblo Transit says it is expanding service for three routes starting next week with help from Clean Transit Enterprise Grant funding.

According to the City of Pueblo, over $1 million in funding will update hours of service for Pueblo Transit on three of its routes. They say it will help increase availability and access, and help meet the needs of those in Pueblo.

The new routes will start on Monday, October 19.

Officials say the service expansions include:

  • North and South Shopping is increasing to 10 hours a day, five days a week, up from six hours a day, five days a week
  • Highland Park II will go back to eight hours a day, five days a week
  • An extra transfer location for North Shopping customers to transfer to Highland Park. The city says it will make travel from the northside to the southside of the city easier and faster

“These service improvements will provide riders with longer and more consistent service hours,” Director of Pueblo Transit Ben Valdez said in a press release. “This expansion of hours is creating additional opportunities for residents to access employment, education, medical appointments, shopping and other essential community services.”

According to officials, the grant money will help improve mobility and hopefully create more passengers who might have not been able to use Pueblo Transit before because of the service hours.

More information on Pueblo Transit and current service routes is available on the city's website.
