Wanted felon arrested after crashing during chase, CSPD says

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A wanted felon was arrested early Friday morning in Colorado Springs after he crashed during a miles-long chase that started in Fountain, police said.

The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said it all started just after 3 a.m., when officers were called to a single-vehicle crash at Austin Bluffs Parkway and Barnes Road. There, they found a Kia sedan had struck a curb near the intersection and got stuck, police said.

CSPD said a K9 with the Fountain Police Department helped take down the suspect -- later identified as 32-year-old Jaylen Mitchell.

Police said the pursuit started in Fountain but did not provide further details.

Mitchell was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said, but the extent of his injuries were not immediately known.
