Man sentenced to 8 years for assault on security guard who was beaten with a bat

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man charged with first-degree assault, a class three felony, was sentenced to eight years in the Department of Corrections after he allegedly assaulted a security guard.

According to police records, in December 2025, multiple neighbors watched as a couple later identified as Craig Mauro and his fiancée, Janel Glasgow, allegedly assaulted Christopher Clark, a security guard.

Police say Clark had attempted to stop a group of trespassers from entering a damaged apartment complex that had previously caught fire.

Mauro allegedly repeatedly struck Clark with a bat on his head and neck when confronted, according to police,

Court documents state that the same witnesses saw Janel Glasgow grab a heavy wrench from her car and hit Clark in the head as he was blacking out.

The couple told police they were trying to retrieve their own belongings from one of the burnt-out apartments when Clark accosted them, and things turned physical.

According to court records, Glasgow took a plea agreement in September.

KRDO13 spoke with Clark ahead of Mauro's sentencing, who said he was able to return to work in a new career about a month ago.

Clark said his recovery has not been easy, but he is grateful to family and friends who have supported him.

Clark said he wanted to be present for Mauro's sentencing to ensure justice is served.
