Heavy rain and flooding chances for the next few days

KRDO

This afternoon and evening, we will see scattered showers and thunderstorms all across southern Colorado. We could see periods of heavy rain. It will be on the cool side, with temperatures in the 60s along the I-25 Corridor. The exception will be the Eastern Plains, where highs will climb into the 80s. A Flood Watch is in place across the San Juans and Sangre de Cristos due to persistent heavy rainfall.

Tuesday will bring us a better chance of widespread showers and thunderstorms. A Flash Flood Watch will go into effect at noon on Tuesday for all of Southern Colorado, and it will remain in place until noon on Thursday. That means we could see widespread heavy rain and flooding from the runoff. Highs will remain in the 60s for most areas in the Pikes Peak Region. The heaviest rain is expected south of the Highway 50 area.

Our storm chances will stay with us through Thursday. After that, we start to dry out and warm up on Friday and right through the weekend. Highs will be back into the 70s.
