High Banks Speedway at Beacon Hill takes major step in revitalization project

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- The High Banks Speedway at Beacon Hill is reaching a big milestone in its mission to come back to racing.

The racetrack announced its track and pit area have officially been paved. They say they are now working on the X.

Resurfacing the track was just one of the improvements co-owner Steve Lacy told KRDO13 about in March of this year when the track was first starting its comeback. The track, which was previously known as Beacon Hill Speedway and I-25 Speedway came back after five years under new ownership and management.

In May, the track said the concrete work and roof replacements on buildings had been replaced, along with some other planned repair work.

Lacy said that at the time they planned to completely renew the facility. They estimated at the time that the work would cost around $3.5 million. Still on their list of plans is repairing or rebuilding damaged structures, repainting buildings and repairing the grandstands and pit areas.

The speedway is already working on events for 2027, including sprint cars and super modifieds, according to their social media.
