Over $23 million in grant awards to go towards Colorado’s electric vehicle fast-charging network

STATEWIDE, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Energy Office (CEO) and Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) say $23 million in grant awards has been given out to help build out Colorado's electric vehicle fast charging.

CEO and CDOT say the grant money is part of its Direct Current Fast-Charging Plazas initiative, funded by the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program and Colorado's Community Access Enterprise. Officials say the grants will fund 270 charging ports at 35 different locations across the state.

State officials say these new grants will help increase the existing charging network by 16%. CEO says this program has created almost $71.8 million to support around 795 new fast-charging ports. According to CEO, it prioritizes projects that are in disproportionately impacted areas.

• 7-Eleven, Inc: Aurora, Denver, and Loveland
• BH Franks CO., LLC:  Saguache
• Blink Charging: Colorado Springs and Fort Collins
• eCAMION: Estes Park, Fraser, Fort Collins, and Grand Junction
• Electrify America, LLC: Denver,  Golden, and Greenwood Village
• EVgo: Westminster
• Evium Charging: Aurora and Colorado Springs
• GCH Charging LLC: Denver
• Helios Charging Inc.: Holly, Ignacio, Moffat, Winter Park, Lone Tree
• Love’s Travel Stop: Alamosa, Bennett, Brush, and Poncha Springs
• Phillips 66: Castle Pines
• Red E Charging LLC: Evans, Rocky Ford, and Thornton
• Rivian: Aurora and Castle Rock
• Tesla: Steamboat Springs
• Town of Eagle: Eagle
