New food pantry, community garden coming to Colorado Springs middle school

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Local families will soon have access to a new food pantry and community garden.

The pantry and garden will be located at Galileo Middle School and offer fresh produce, bread and other household food staple, according to Colorado Springs School District 11.

The official opening will take place Friday, Sept. 25.

The school district said it was made possible with the help of the Joint Initiatives for Youth + Families and "the shared vision of making the school a broader hub of support for students, families and the surrounding community."
