Tina Peters sets record straight on reports on elections job in California

STATEWIDE, Colo. (KRDO) -- Former Mesa County Clerk and Recorder Tina Peters is setting the record straight on reports about her accepting an elections job in California.

Peters took to social media this week to say that, contrary to reports, she has not accepted a job in Shasta County, California. A separate statement from Peters says there had been discussions on an elections job in the county, but no formal position had been offered yet.

California Governor Gavin Newsom posted on social media, calling for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to block a transfer of Peters' parole from Colorado to California.

Peters is on parole after being released from prison in June when Colorado Governor Jared Polis commuted her nearly nine-year sentence. She was convicted on four felonies and three misdemeanors for giving access to election software to an unauthorized person.
