Bell from historic Pueblo church returned after being stolen over the weekend

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- A bell that was stolen over the weekend from a historic Pueblo church has been returned.

Archangel Michael Orthodox Church reported the bells had been stolen on Aug. 8 after one of their officials noticed a large hole had been cut in the fence. The church has been in Pueblo since 1903.

According to the Rev. Zechariah Lynch, the bell was returned shortly after KRDO13 spoke with him about the missing bell.

Lynch told KRDO13 the bell was returned Thursday afternoon. The church doesn't yet know know dropped it off, but it was left in front of the church.

The bell that was stolen is from a set of five that was part of the church's 100th anniversary in 2003. The bells were crafted in Russia.
