School Buzz on the Road: D38 and Lewis-Palmer High returns to the classroom in style

MONUMENT, Colo. (KRDO) - Students at Lewis-Palmer High returned to the classroom Wednesday with strong senior traditions and even stronger school spirit.

Dozens of students arrived before 5 a.m. to greet KRDO13's live TV crew. The senior girls rocked hand-sewn overalls, while the senior boys sported painted jean shorts.

"We spent a lot of time on these overalls. I took about 2 weeks probably to get these done. It's a lot of painting, a lot of sewing," Senior Class President Audrey Skalko said.

The band and cheerleaders joined KRDO13 live on air before the sun came up, letting all of Southern Colorado's early risers get a taste of what they're all about.

"They have a lot of fun, and it helps me have fun too, just knowing that they love music so much and it's really rewarding to be teaching music," said Colorado's Music Teacher of the Year, Sam Anderson.

The entire student body finished the morning with a collective pep rally and student chant live on KRDO13.
