Viral video shows man cussing at teens at Brush Hollow Reservoir

FREMONT COUNTY, Colo. – A video has gone viral online showing a man threatening and cussing at teens fishing at Brush Hollow Reservoir.

The incident happened on July 19th, but a video of the incident posted a few days ago has gained over a million views on TikTok. KRDO13 spoke with Robert Meza, whose son took the video. He says he and his son fish at this spot often with no issue, and his son was there that day with some friends.

Meza says his son hadn’t even cast his line yet when he was quickly approached by the man in the video, saying they were too close to where he was fishing. According to Meza, the teens were about 100 feet away from the man's spot.

The man in the video is shown cussing profusely and threatening to throw the teens’ belongings into the water. KRDO13 has blurred the man's face since he has not been charged with any crimes at this time. The man goes on to claim that his own son was fishing in this spot.

KRDO13 also spoke with Gage Near, who helped spread the video online across his popular fishing accounts, including the now-viral TikTok. Near says anglers should be teaching kids in the community fishing skills — not harassing them.

The Fremont County Sheriff's Office received a report of the incident and is working to get in contact with the parties involved.

Meza told KRDO13 he also intends to contact Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) regarding the incident. According to CPW, it is illegal to harass or interfere with anglers. A violation of this could result in a Class 2 Misdemeanor and fishing license penalties.
