MONUMENT, Colo. (KRDO) -- Monument is getting 135 jobs in a new mechanical contracting company coming to the area.

Gov. Jared Polis and the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade announced ACCO Engineered Systems, a mechanical contracting and systems engineering company, would expand in Monument soon.

ACCO is an employee-owned company with 6,500 employees, including 285 of whom are currently based in Colorado. The company says around 135 new jobs, including engineers and project managers, will come with the plant, with an average wage of over $87,000.

The new Monument facility will be a fabrication site with a planned capital investment of $36 million, according to officials. The Colorado Economic Development Commission has approved over $450,000 as part of the Strategic Fund Job Growth Incentive, which will be distributed over five years.

El Paso County says ACCO could also get over $580,000 in performance-based tax credits and exemptions, according to officials.

Officials say ACCO also considered Arizona as a potential place for expansion before deciding to locate in El Paso County.
