Colorado Springs greenlights investment plan for six Southeast neighborhoods

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs City Council approved a new community plan for the southeast part of the city that will help with investments, developments and neighborhoods improvements.

The Southeast Strong Neighborhood Plan will focus on six neighborhoods over the next four years, including Deerfield Hills, Pikes Peak Park North, Pikes Peak Park South, Soaring Eagles, Southborough and Spring Creek, according to city officials.

The plan focuses on several key "big ideas," including the economy, housing, transportation, and public safety. Over a four-year planning process, the city says it worked with a community committee to shape the plan.

The plan for the southeast part of the city is the first part of the larger city Neighborhood Planning Program that helps create specific plans for neighborhoods, while working with the city on larger goals, according to officials.
