Suspect arrested after two police pursuits in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has arrested a suspect after two pursuits early Friday morning.

According to officials, officers located a car tied to a wanted suspect around midnight on July 10. CSPD says the suspect had an active felony warrant for domestic violence stalking and was believed to have a weapon.

CSPD officers attempted to stop the vehicle when the car fled the scene. The pursuit was ended briefly after because officials could not properly identify the suspect, officials say.

CSPD says drones were later able to find the vehicle, and officers in an unmarked car kept an eye on the car until officers were able to confirm the suspect was driving. A second traffic stop was attempted, and the suspect fled again.

A precision immobilization technique (PIT) was attempted at South Powers Boulevard west of Peak Innovation Parkway, according to officials. The suspect's car spun out into the median and went into opposite lanes of traffic before correcting and continuing to drive.

A second PIT was attempted and the vehicle stopped. According to CSPD, after being blocked in, the suspect was arrested and taken into custody for the original warrant and new felony charges.
