United Way highlights KRDO13 Southern Colorado Cares Telethon for ‘Aspen Acres’ fire evacuees

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The United Way of Southern Colorado will provide an update Monday afternoon on ongoing relief efforts for those impacted by the Aspen Acres Fire, including information about KRDO13's upcoming Southern Colorado Cares Telethon.

The telethon will help raise money for those affected by the wildfire, with donations staying local to provide immediate assistance such as housing, food, hygiene supplies and other essential needs, while also supporting long-term recovery efforts.

During the briefing, officials encouraged individuals to stay informed on what is needed by following updates on their social media and website.

As of July 5 at 3 p.m., they were in need of the following:

• USB-C cords & chargers
• Laundry supplies all free liquid and dryer sheets
• Paper or plastic plates/bowls/eating utensils
• Ziploc bags
• Kitchenware: can openers, pots, pans, cooking utensils
• Food Items: Cooking oil, pepper, cereal, sugar, chicken broth, non-refrigerated microwave meals
• NEW men's, women's, & children's underwear
• Batteries (all sizes)
• Unscented wipes, pull ups (4/5T, 5/6T - girls and boys)
• Belts, men’s shoes
• Shampoo & conditioner, shaving cream
• Soda & Diet Soda
• OTC Meds: Children’s Tylenol, Pepto/antacids
• Wheelchairs and walkers
