Swig to open first Colorado Springs location as part of 10-store expansion

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Dirty soda chain Swig is coming to Colorado Springs.

The Utah-based beverage brand announced Tuesday that it has signed a franchise agreement to open 10 locations across the Colorado Springs area, marking the company's first expansion into Colorado.

The first Swig location is expected to open by the end of 2026.

The expansion will be led by father-son franchise operators Alex and Alan Knox, who bring experience in restaurant operations and franchising.

"We've followed Swig's growth closely and have been impressed by the strength of the brand and the experience it delivers," Alan Knox said in a statement. "We're excited to introduce Swig to Colorado Springs and create a welcoming, community-focused experience for guests."

Swig is known for its customizable "dirty sodas" — soft drinks mixed with flavored syrups, creams and other add-ins.

The company says the chain's drive-thru-focused business model allows stores to operate in spaces as small as 800 to 850 square feet, reducing construction costs and streamlining operations.

"As we grow into new markets, we're focused on building a brand that's as much about the guest experience as it is about the product," Swig CEO Alex Dunn said in a statement.

Founded in 2010 in St. George, Utah, Swig has grown to more than 150 locations across 16 states.
