Summer officially begins early Sunday morning

But the summerlike weather has been with us all week! Daytime temperatures reached the 90s and low 100s across Colorado Springs and the Southeast Plains Saturday afternoon. RED FLAG Fire Warnings stay in effect until 10:00 P.M. Sunday night. Sprinkles over the Palmer Divide showed up on Radar during the mid-afternoon, but the rest of the region remained dry.

Skies will clear up overnight with low temperatures in the upper 50s. Summer officially begins at 12:24 A.M. Sunday, and the first day of summer will feel like it with afternoon clouds and high temperatures right near 90 degrees.

Expect cooler, more seasonal temperatures to return to Southern Colorado on Monday through Wednesday, with a 40 percent chance of afternoon thunderstorms on Monday.

The rest of the week will feature typical summer weather with high temperatures and scattered afternoon storms.
