UPDATE: Douglas County evacuation warning lifted

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) - UPDATE: The evacuation warning for a three-mile area in the southern part of Douglas County was lifted at 8:19 P.M.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office credits Pano-AI cameras and an alert resident in the area that led to the lightning-quick response to the fire that prevented it from getting out of control.

The Log Jumper Fire never grew more than an acre. The sheriff's office says the cause was a lightning strike that ignited a tree

No one was injured by the fire.

Original Report: The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is fighting a fire that has triggered an evacuation warning for people in the area.

The sheriff's office says the fire is burning near Jackson Creek Road and Rampart Range Road. The evacuation warning extends three miles out from that point in all directions, which includes the Devils Head Recreation Area.

A warning is not an order, but the sheriff's office says anyone who may need extra time to evacuate, as well as those with pets or livestock, should consider leaving now. Residents in the area should be prepared to evacuate.

Fire crews are on scene, and a helicopter is dropping water on the fire, the sheriff's office reports.
