$1.4M expansion planned for Garden of the Gods Trading Post

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Garden of the Gods Trading Post is set to undergo a 3,500-square-foot expansion and add a new parking lot to accommodate shoppers and park visitors.

Officials tell KRDO13 that the expansion was made possible through a 2023 land transfer between the gift shop's owners and the City of Colorado Springs.

The expansion will also include an opportunity to build a new trail connecting the trading post area to Balanced Rock, offering a new route for tourists and hikers within the park, says the President of Colorado Retail Collection.

Construction on the parking lot expansion is scheduled to break ground next week. Groundbreaking for the expansion will follow in September, says Colorado Retail Collection.

According to the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department, the expansion will cost around $1.4 million.
