El Paso County partners with Toys for Tots to help children in need over the holiday season

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) – The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office is partnering with Toys for Tots, a 76-year national charitable program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, to spread joy to local children this holiday season.

The program provides year-round comfort and hope to children in need across the country through gifting them a new toy or book.

According to El Paso County, the impact of these toys and books offers children in need recognition, confidence, and a positive memory for a lifetime.

“I invite you to join us in spreading the season's joy by donating a new, unwrapped toy for a child in our community,” County Clerk and Recorder Steve Schleiker said. “Together, we can make a difference and ensure every child experiences the wonder of Christmas. Let's unite as a community and fill those boxes with love, hope, and holiday spirit!”

Donation boxes will be stationed at all four El Paso County DMV locations (Citizens Service Center, Union Town Center, Powers and Fort Carson) as well as in the Recording Department.

The county encourages citizens to donate unwrapped toys, which will then be distributed to children in need for Christmas. The boxes will be at the locations, receiving donations, until Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Can't make it in person but want to help out? No worries – you can also donate online at toysfortots.org.
