Colorado Springs fire responding to structure fire at apartment complex on southeast side of city

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO)- The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) responded to a structure fire at The Vue at Spring Creek Apartments.

These are on the southeast side of the city.

CSFD says that while en route, an Engine 23 officer noticed a header (smoke in the air) and called a working structure fire.

Engine 23 and Engine 11 arrived at 9:04 a.m. to heavy fire and smoke from two floors of the building. Engine 11 officer immediately called for a second alarm. Engine 23 officer took command a few moments later and called for a third alarm. The fire spread to the attic space and was quickly knocked down. The fire was called under control at 10:20 a.m.

CSFD says that there were no injuries reported to any residents or firefighters.

CSFD crews rescued 2 dogs from the fire. A cat was also found but after receiving oxygen, did not make it. About 60 CSFD personnel responded. 6 apartments will be uninhabitable.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
