Applications now open for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office 2024 Citizen’s Academy

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) --The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for its spring 2024 Citizen's Academy. The course is a total of five weeks long and will begin on April 2nd. Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays for about three hours starting at 5:30 p.m. 

The purpose of this course is to provide more insight to the public on the various functions of the Sheriff's Office. Participants will have the opportunity to go on a ride-along with patrol deputies. They'll also receive a tour of the jail, to better understand the environment facing our staff every day. 

The academy is offered at no cost however, applicants must pass a standard background check and attendance will be limited to 40 people. The deadline to apply is March 10th, if you are interested in attending, click here.
