Grass fire near Boone in eastern Pueblo County now 85% contained
PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) - A fire is burning near the town of Boone in Pueblo County.
4:30 p.m. update: The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office reports that the fire is now 85% contained and remains at 100 acres. No structures are threatened. The sheriff's office will monitor the fire throughout the night. Hand crews from the Division of Fire Prevention and Control and Pueblo County Sheriff’s Emergency Services teams will return to work the fire site Friday morning.

2:20 p.m. update: The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office says the fire remains at about 100 acres but is now 50 percent contained. No structures are threatened and there are still multiple fire crews on scene.

1:45 p.m. update: The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) says that the 209Fire is approximately 100 acres, and no containment is reported at this time. The fire is burning grass and spread to trees in the Arkansas River bottom. No structures are threatened. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Other teams assisting are AMR, West Park, Fowler, Rocky Ford, Manzanola, and Ordway.
1 p.m. update: The PCSO says seven fire agencies are currently responding to the 209Fire burning south of Hwy 96 and the Town of Boone. No size is determined at this time. No structures are threatened.
Fire teams responding are the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Bureau, Pueblo City Fire, Pueblo West Fire, Pueblo Rural Fire, Pueblo Chemical Depot, Transportation Technology Center (TTCI), and Beulah Fire.
