A group of roosters saved from a cockfighting ring now living at a sanctuary in Colorado

BENNETT, Co. (KRDO) -- A group of roosters are now safe in Colorado after being rescued from across the country. Seventy-seven roosters lived inside a cockfighting ring in Norman, Oklahoma.

The Norman Police Department said they discovered the operation after responding to a barn fire. Roosters were found living in dire conditions along with evidence that the group was subjected to brutal training and exploration for fighting purposes. Sixty-eight of the roosters in that group have been transferred to the Rooster Sanctuary at Danzig's Roost in Bennett. The organization is already home to dozens of rescues which means they are well over-capacity.

We are told several roosters have already been adopted since arriving in Colorado but many more are still awaiting homes. If you are interested in donating to help out the rooster sanctuary, click here.
