COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Primrose schools across Colorado Springs donated 1,233 canned goods to Care and Share Food Bank of Southern Colorado and One Nation Walking Together.

"Nurturing generosity in young children is an investment in the future of our society. At Primrose Schools, we believe that teaching children the value of giving, sharing and caring is a cornerstone of early education. And, by educating children to be service-minded and to give without expectation, we are working together toward a brighter future of caring, community-oriented citizens."

Jo Kirchner, CEO of Primrose Schools.

According to Primrose Schools, the food donation program offers several benefits to Primrose students:

  • Encourages children to complete age-appropriate household chores for allowance money to buy canned goods.
  • Fosters giving without expectation, a key component of the Primrose Schools Balanced Learning® curriculum.
  • Participating schools: Primrose School of Cottonwood Creek, Primrose School of Stetson Hills and Primrose School of North Colorado Springs
  • This nationwide initiative was just featured on NBC Nightly News
