Three dead in crash south of Pueblo, victims identified by coroner

KRDO

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) - Colorado State Patrol (CSP) responded to a crash on Nov. 21 near mile marker 15 on Co Hwy 78 near Beulah.

According to CSP, the car went off the road and hit a tree before catching fire. CSP does not believe that weather, drugs, or alcohol were factors in the crash. CSP does suspect that excessive speed is a factor.

The Pueblo County Coroner identified the victims as Melissa Peterson, 43, and two children, an 11-year-old female, and a 7-year-old male. The coroner says that all three were pronounced dead at the scene.

Pueblo School District 60 confirmed that the 7-year-old,  Kingston Peterson, was a second grader at Highland Park Elementary School. The district has a Crisis Management Team at the school available for any students or staff that may need support.
