Colorado Springs releases 2024 Discover COS calendar
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - The City of Colorado Springs released the new 2024 Discover COS calendar. This year's theme is called "Celebrate the Seasons".
For the first time, you can buy an exclusive 2024 calendar that highlights the natural beauty of Colorado Springs parks, trails, and open spaces. All of this year's featured images are from local photographers.
The calendar is published by the City of Colorado Springs and it features photos from the winners of the 11th annual Discover Colorado Springs photo contest.
“This calendar is a compilation of the best of the best scenery in our city, and these photos showcase our beautiful natural spaces and the wildlife that lives there,” said Mayor Yemi Mobolade. “It’s no secret that our parks, trails, and open spaces are the places that make Colorado Springs a great place to live – they are what set our city apart."
The proceeds will go towards the trails open space program, also known as TOPS, which is a city sales tax program that is dedicated to the protection and preservation of trails, open spaces, and parks.
In April of 1997, voters passed the TOPS ballot to develop and tend to trails and parks with a 0.1% sales tax or a penny on even ten dollars purchased.
This year the TOPS ballet was renewed by voters at the same rate through 2025. The program generates upwards of eleven million dollars each year.
