Search for suspects who went on an hours-long crime spree in Colorado Springs
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - Colorado Springs Police are searching for multiple suspects involved in several thefts throughout the city in one day.
On Aug. 8, the Colorado Springs Police Department received reports of an in-progress theft at a convenience store in the 1900 block of N. Academy Blvd. at 2:18 a.m. Police were told that multiple suspects dressed in dark clothes and wearing masks entered the store and stole an undisclosed amount of items. They then fled the scene in a silver SUV before police arrived.
At 3:42 a.m., CSPD said officers were flagged down in the 300 block of Mount View Ln. for a similar incident. Police determined the suspect information and vehicle description matched the earlier call.
Less than an hour later at 4:14 a.m., a third incident was reported in the 900 block of N. Circle Dr. In this incident, CSPD learned the vehicle was a silver 2016 Hyundai Tucson with Colorado registration that had been reported stolen.
Moments later at 4:22 a.m., a fourth incident was reported in the 5600 block of Palmer Park Blvd. with matching suspect descriptions.
A fifth incident at 4:40 a.m. was reported in the 3800 block of N. Nevada Ave., and a sixth incident was reported at 4:43 a.m. in the 200 block of W. Fillmore St. Both incidents had matching suspect descriptions.
According to CSPD, the investigation is ongoing and the stolen Hyundai hasn't been recovered. All six incidents involve three to five individuals wearing dark clothing and masks. The suspects are accused of walking into the stores, stealing various items, then leaving in the Hyundai.
CSPD said video surveillance is being reviewed from all locations to try and identify the suspects.
