Parker Police Department looking for shoplifting suspect involved in fatal hit-and-run

PARKER, Colo. (KRDO)-- The Parker Police Department is searching for a suspect and vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident.

According to the Police Department, the incident happened on Monday, August 21, at around 8:30 p.m. at S. Parker Rd. at Lincoln Ave. 

The suspect involved in the incident, according to the Parker Police Department, was leaving a Walmart in the area after shoplifting when they ran a red light and hit a pedestrian in a designated walkway. 

An officer reportedly attempted to pull the car over on Parker Rd. near Plaza Dr. after learning of the shoplifting incident but the driver reportedly did not stop for the officer.

According to the Police Department, per Department policy, the officer then turned off their lights and sirens and made a U-Turn at the next intersection.

Following the attempt to stop the driver, the Parker Police Department dispatch received a call regarding the pedestrian that was hit at Parker and Lincoln.

Officers at that scene reported giving the pedestrian CPR before they were transferred to a hospital. The Police Department reported the pedestrian later passed away.

Meanwhile, the suspect is still on the loose, however, witnesses to the incident reported the suspect's car was heading north at Parker Rd. and Orchard Rd.

The Parker Police Department describes the driver as a black man with black hair who was wearing an oversized black t-shirt and black and gray basketball shorts. 

At the time of the incident, they were accompanied by a passenger described as a black woman. 

The car in question is described as a white 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with a Colorado license plate issued to: AWRS39. 

The CBI reported the car’s windshield is cracked and the driver’s side airbag is possibly deployed.
