Denver International Airport ranks #3 for Top Five Green Fleets in North America
DENVER, Colo. (KRDO)-- Denver International Airport’s (DEN) fleet operations have just been recognized for its sustainable management as the number three fleet in North America by the National Association of Fleet Administrators (NAFA).
According to officials, the annual ranking recognizes peak-performing operations and honors enhanced practices that make a positive impact on the environment and improvements within the fleet industry.
In 2022, DEN ranked number four, improving one spot in 2023 only behind City of Phoenix and Alameda County.
Officials with DEN state DEN’s Fleet Management Section maintains more than 1,300 different vehicles and equipment ranging from large snow removal vehicles, Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) vehicles, forklifts, cranes, and light duty vehicles to smaller equipment such as concrete saws.
Approximately 26% of DEN’s vehicle fleet is powered with alternative fuels such as compressed natural gas (CNG), and its fleet management division currently provides CNG testing services to about 300 vehicles operated by tenant airlines.
“DEN’s fleet has a long history of prioritizing sustainability, dating back to the airport’s opening in 1995,” DEN CEO Phil Washington said. “Our entire team is dedicated to doing our part in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, while balancing operational capability. This award is a recognition and acknowledgement of specifically our maintenance team’s passion, efforts, and dedication towards our goal of becoming one of the greenest airports in the world.”
