Early signs of new academic wing at Vista Ridge High School now underway

KRDO

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO)-- Early signs of expansion efforts at Vista Ridge High School (VRHS) are underway ahead of the start of the 2023-2024 school year.

Officials with VRHS stated a perimeter of temporary fencing is standing between a portion of the east parking lot and will soon become an additional VRHS academic wing.

The expansion effort will add 32,000 square feet of space to relieve capacity corners and include classrooms for career and technical education.

VRHS officials state the expansion will boost capacity by approximately 450 students, offering 18 classrooms on the south side of the campus.

In light of these construction efforts, VRHS officials state within the fenced-off area, students, families, visitors, and the VRHS workforce will notice a modular building which will be used by VRHS’s partners, Nunn Construction, managing day-to-day operations.

Crew members will be break ground on the new academic wing in the fall semester and will remain on campus until the scheduled completion date in the fall semester of 2024.

VRHS officials state they do not anticipate any disruption to normal operations and their partners at Nunn Construction will make efforts to minimize impact to the VRHS campus.
