Pedestrian involved in fatal crash on I-25 in Colorado Springs identified as 22-year-old woman

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The victim of a fatal auto-pedestrian crash on I-25 in Colorado Springs on July 22 has been identified by the El Paso County Coroner as a 22-year-old woman.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), officers responded to southbound I-25, north of Woodmen Rd, just before midnight on July 22 to investigate a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. When they arrived, they found a woman had been struck by a car and sustained life-threatening injuries.

That woman was later pronounced dead due to the injuries she sustained in the crash, CSPD said.

The El Paso County Coroner has identified the 22-year-old woman as Skylar Christensen of Colorado Springs. There have been no arrests or charges issued related to this case. Currently, neither speed nor alcohol are considered factors in this investigation, according to CSPD.

This was the 26th fatal traffic crash in Colorado Springs in 2023. At this time last year, the number was also 26, according to the CSPD.
