Construction begins for Highway 105A
EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) – The El Paso County Highway 105A Project is scheduled to begin July 24, and construction work is expected to continue into 2025.
The project will extend the 4-lane section of Highway 105, just east of Jackson Creek Parkway to Lake Woodmoor Drive, to accommodate more traffic. That’s according to officials with El Paso County.
The newly developed Highway 105A will be two lanes in each direction, complete with left and right turn lanes.
The project will also oversee multi-use shoulders and pedestrian improvements with sidewalk connectivity, a new underground drainage system, a water quality pond, and at Knollwood Drive, a newly replaced traffic signal and roundabout at the Village Ridge Point intersection.
The hope, according to officials, is to keep traffic moving and reduce traffic backups on Highway 105 that have previously occurred in the area.
Officials state other projects underway in the area include:
- Monument Academy: Currently in the process of constructing new student drop off/pick up queuing lanes on the school property site north of Highway 105.
- The Monument Junction: Construction improvements at Highway 105/CO-105/Jackson Creek Parkway intersection include a second westbound left turn lane on Highway 105 to southbound Jackson Creek Parkway.
