Three dead from apparent murder-suicide in Lorson Ranch barricaded suspect situation
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- An investigation is underway after a situation involving a barricaded suspect in a Lorson Ranch home ended in an apparent murder-suicide.
Monday morning, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a barricaded suspect in Lorson Ranch.
According to the sheriff's office, the call came in as a transfer from the Colorado Springs Police Department at 9:54 a.m. The caller said a man was shooting in a house in the 9800 block of Rubicon Dr.
Multiple shots were fired within the home. According to investigators, the suspect immediately barricaded themself within the home.
EPCSO tactical support group, SWAT, K9s, and crisis negotiations all responded to the scene. Residents in the area were told to stay away from windows and doors.
At 1:04 p.m., the EPCSO said the scene was "safe" but that there was still law enforcement activity in the area.
According to the EPCSO, SWAT members found three deceased adults inside the home. According to investigators, the suspect had a "domestic relationship with one of the victims."
The sheriff's office said this is being investigated as a murder-suicide. KRDO confirmed with the EPCSO the suspect is one of the three people deceased.
At this time, no names have been released.
