Colorado Proposition 125 likely headed for an automatic recount

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO)--If passed, Colorado proposition 125 would allow grocery and other stores to sell wine. The vote is currently very close, meaning the state will likely pay for a mandatory recount.

KRDO spoke with some shoppers at an Albertsons on the North side of Pueblo, and some residents believe it's a great idea.

"I think beer and grocery stores has been a success. And I don't see any difference really with beer and wine," said Jerry Campbell, Pueblo Resident.

Campbell said he does not believe it will impact other liquor stores in Pueblo.

"I think the liquor stores aren't going to be hurt by it. The kind of people who buy one bottle of wine or two are not the liquor stores' main customers," said Campbell.

However, the store manager of Spanky's Liquor World, Danielle Winnett, said she believes it will hurt local liquor stores like the one she manages in Pueblo.

"What we're going to try to keep up with the sales, keep up, you know, the prices that are in the grocery stores kind of be competitive...It's going to take a toll. We wish it would just stay in the liquor stores," said Winnett.

According to the Secretary of States Office, the last day to certify or order a mandatory recount is Dec. 5 and the last day to complete a mandatory recount is Dec. 13.
