Fire near Manitou Incline quickly extinguished

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Wednesday afternoon, just after 1 p.m., the Manitou Springs Fire Department (MSFD) received a call about visible smoke and flames near the 1,100 step of the Manitou Incline.

According to the City of Manitou Springs, nearby hikers were able to contain the fire until firefighters were able to respond. Around 2 p.m., 14 MSFD firefighters were able to reach the fire, which was contained due to the efforts of the hikers.

Firefighters were able to mop up the hotspots and overhaul the area to ensure there was no chance of continued heat.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
