Hoping lightning strikes thrice, customers flock to Pueblo store that sold 2 winning lottery tickets

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- As anticipation builds to see who wins the 1.9 billion dollar Powerball jackpot, crowds are gathering at Winners Corner in downtown Pueblo to put their luck to the test.

The spot on 310 N Main Street has sold two winning lottery tickets, one of those lottery players winning a million dollars and the other scoring a $50,000 prize.

"There is excitement,' said Pueblo resident Kelly Adame. "Everybody's planning how they're going to spend their billions. Lightning has already struck twice in the past week, the third time's the charm."

Lottery players are hoping that with some luck, the spot will sell a third lucky ticket for the big drawing.

"Oh, my gosh, you open the door and you can feel the energy," said Pueblo resident Dee Sandoval. "People are excited. The line goes round and round and round. There's, I don't know how many people in there, over 30?"

People at the store say they made friends in the line, sharing how they would spend their billions if they purchase the winning numbers.

The drawing for the jackpot will take place tonight, and the numbers are scheduled to be announced at 8:59 p.m. MT.
