One dead after serious three-car crash in southwest Colorado Springs
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- One person died in a serious three-car crash at Lakes Ave and Venetucci Blvd Friday night, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.
When emergency personnel arrived they found several of the occupants of the cars had sustained serious injuries and were transported to local hospitals.
CSPD said the driver of car #1 fled the scene but was found and taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries and evaluated for impairment.
The preliminary investigation revealed car #1 was eastbound on Lake Ave trying to turn left onto E Cheyenne Rd. Car #2 and #3 were both westbound on Lake Ave approaching the intersection of Venetucci Blvd. All cars collided in the intersection.
All of the passengers in car #1 sustained serious injuries and another passenger later died from their injuries, according to CSPD.

Police said alcohol and speed are considered factors in this investigation.
