Huge uncertainty for Colorado Springs Homeless Outreach Program
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., (KRDO) -The Homeless Outreach Program (HOP) team, which is run by the Colorado Springs Fire Department, will be discarded if they don’t figure out how to get funds by June.
Their current grant will run out at that time and there has been no money allocated to this program in the proposed 2023 budget.
At the city council meeting Monday night many people spoke in favor of finding a way to throw more money at the program. Lots of these people work for homeless groups or similar non-profits that say they rely on firefighters to administer medical attention to the homeless when needed and help to get those people housing.
