Huerfano County public safety agencies will conduct active shooter drill October 28

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Huerfano County Sheriff's Office, Spanish Peaks Ambulance, Huerfano County Fire Department, Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center, Huerfano County Emergency Services Department, and the 3rd Judicial District will participate in a major active shooter drill on the morning of October 28, 2022.

The drill will take place at the Judicial Center at 200 W. 5th St.

The drill is designed to test the abilities of first responders and will simulate a mass casualty event.

The event is not open to the public.

Officials say that people should not be alarmed by a large number of first responder vehicles or personnel in the area or traveling to the hospital. It is all a part of the drill.

Signs will be posted to indicate that there is a drill happening.
