Man arrested after driving wrong way on I-25 in Colorado Springs
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Just after 11 p.m. Thursday night, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to the area of I-25 and Woodmen Rd. on a report of a vehicle driving southbound in the northbound lanes.
CSPD said officers located the vehicle, stopped on I-25, facing southbound in the northbound lanes, just south of the Fillmore exit. The vehicle was not damaged as though it had been in a wreck.
According to police, the driver of the vehicle, 32-year-old Ruben Hernandez, was running down the highway in the center median and ran into traffic when officers approached him.
CSPD said Hernandez then complied with officers but began struggling after being detained.
Hernandez was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and was cited for driving under the influence of drugs and reckless driving, according to CSPD.
