The Mesa Ridge softball team will play in the Class 4A state tournament
Mesa Ridge is headed to state. The Grizzlies got a send off from the school. They're four wins from a state title after entering the playoffs as a 24th seed. That's pretty low. The Grizz were badly underestimated,
"I don't think that our seed determines who we are as a team. Honestly, with the way that our team plays together and if we really come together, that we can be seeded, number one any day," says Mesa Ridge shortstop Emily Arellano.
Through all the hits, the strikeout, the wins, the key has been the energy in the dugout, "It gives us a lot of confidence, especially because it gets down like whenever we say a chance, the opponents get down in their heads. And that just makes us go even higher," Mesa Ridge softball player, Grace Barnhart.
Some teams are loud, but the girls at Mesa Ridge are throwing a party every game, "Probably the best. Some of my best times in my life. It's like the moments that you want to always relive," says Mesa Ridge outfielder, Emma Burden.
Miss one pitch and they're all over you, "One person got hyped and we all got hyped and just kept on spreading to every single other person on this team," says Mesa Ridge third baseman, Destiny Tuttle.
"I think that really just gives us all a boost. I mean, it's just it's like that adrenaline. And I think that's what we kind of need," says Mesa Ridge first baseman, Cheyenne Walker.
