COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- This October, firefighters across the country are wearing pink to raise awareness of the fight against breast cancer.

The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) said its organization and more than 331,000 members are committed to fighting against occupational cancers in the fire service, that includes breast cancer.

The IAFF provided the following infographic to remind people of the general statistics on breast cancer:

Throughout October, firefighters wil wear pink T-shirts on duty and off duty in the community. IAFF will also be selling shirts to raise money for the American Cancer Society and other cancer organizations for research and awareness.

People are also encouraged to send IAFF photos of their Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities or post to social media with the hashtags #IAFFinPink or #firefightersinpink.
