KRDO

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- An active shooter drill will be held at Heaton Middle School Friday morning at 8 a.m.

The school is located at 6 Adair Rd. in Pueblo.

According to the Pueblo Police Department (PPD), the training is being conducted in an effort to help Pueblo School District 60, the Pueblo Police Department, and the Pueblo Fire Department be better prepared in the event of an actual active shooter incident.

The PPD said there will be an increased police and fire presence in the area during the event and simulated gunfire may be heard. Officers will be staged around the outside of the school to ensure no one enters the area who is not permitted.
